Requirements & architecture
Define signal types, supply rails, interfaces, dimensions and environmental constraints. Select a microcontroller, host interface or carrier-board architecture appropriate to cost, lifecycle and performance.

Connector pinouts, component selection, schematic capture and project-appropriate PCB routing. Layer count, stack-up, thermal constraints and manufacturability are reviewed before prototype release.
Digital sensors, ADC/DAC interfaces and conditioning for agreed voltage or current ranges. Accuracy, grounding, isolation and calibration need a defined error budget and verification plan.
Regulation, polarity protection, surge protection and isolated interfaces can be engineered to specified limits. Relay, MOSFET and load drivers require electrical, thermal and fault-current assessment.
Peripheral drivers, sampling, state machines, configuration and diagnostics. Watchdogs, bootloaders and controlled updates can be included with explicit recovery and testing requirements.
UART, RS-485, CAN, Ethernet, USB or wireless modules where appropriate. Protocol support, radio approvals, antenna design, EMC and licensing depend on the chosen components and target market.
Prototype bring-up, BOM review and agreed fabrication/assembly outputs. Small-batch production, fixtures, component sourcing, intellectual-property handover and ongoing supply are quoted separately.
Functional checks, interface tests and environmental or EMC pre-compliance can be scoped. Formal certification requires the relevant standards, accredited testing and project-specific evidence.
Sensor adapter boards, instrument interfaces, isolated communications modules, gateway carrier boards, data-acquisition prototypes and low-volume embedded products with clearly defined requirements.
A prototype is not automatically production-ready or certified. Mains-connected, high-energy, hazardous-area, medical and safety-critical applications need specialized design controls and compliance work. Manufacturing yield, component availability, enclosure ratings, warranties and regulatory approvals are not implied by a concept or prototype.
Share the required interfaces, supply voltage, enclosure dimensions, quantity and operating environment.
